Us? Nazis?

American Handgunner,  July-August, 2008  by John McGill

I own a Kimber Custom Eclipse II, which I love, and maybe it's just me, but I don't think Kimber will be getting great press when the "SIS" printed on the slide of their new LAPD pistols looks eerily similar to the Nazi "SS" symbol (Cover story, May/June 2008). When I first saw that pistol, it's the first thing I thought of. The original Waffen-SS was comprised of a small unit (only 322 men) who were sanctioned to act as Adolf Hitler's personal bodyguard.

John, listen very carefully now, and repeat after me: Kimber is not the SS, the LAPD is not the SS, it's not WWII,--and you need to get past this. Even many American Indian tribes still use the swastika as a religious symbol, but the last I heard they aren't Nazis either. Oh yeah, neither are we, although my writers have called me a Nazi before when I made them adhere to deadlines (You reading this Connor? ). But that's" another story. Editor
