Boker cutters

In he expression "big things come in small packages" is perfect when describing the Boker Subcom F and Rescom knives. These knives are made in collaboration with Hawaiian knife maker Chad Los Banos. When I first saw the knives I thought they would get swallowed up by my hand, what I found was the opposite--they feel like a big knife and cut much bigger than their size would indicate.
Both are made of AUS-8 steel and weigh in at just over 2 ounces. The blade and hook are 1 7/8" long and 1/16" thick. The Rescoms hook design is perfect for rescue personnel--from seatbelts to gear and clothing, I couldn't find anything it wouldn't cut. Once again, I'm reminded that as glamorous a big knife may be, it's the small ones, the "ones at hand" that get the work done. I've noticed the same thing about flashlights. All the $200 fancy ones are nifty and have their place, but it's usually the $10 LED on your keychain you reach for first. These Boker's fit that bill perfectly, and less is definitely more. Suggested retail $9.95 Subcom and $41.95 Rescom.
