Magnum Research announced at the SHOT Show that 2009 marked the 25th anniversary of the Desert Eagle. What started as an idea for a magnum cartridge in a semi-automatic pistol, has evolved into high power, superior quality handguns. Founded in 1980. the company spent four years developing a pistol that everyone said could not be made. The first caliber was the .357 Magnum and was introduced to the Market in 1984. That cartridge was followed by the .44 Magnum in 1987, and most recently, the .50 AE. Today the Desert Eagle is still available in all three calibers, as well as assorted barrel lengths and custom finishes.
