Internet Strategies for Education Markets: The Heller Report, April, 2000

In a first step for plans to deliver content to students, N2H2 (Seattle, WA) has licensed Microsoft Encarta Online Deluxe multimedia encyclopedia and will make it available to all education users. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft becomes a premier sponsor of N2H2's Internet services for schools, which include Bess content filtering and the Searchopolis education portal.

In other N2H2 news, the company recently expanded to Asia-Pacific markets with the acquisition of iseek, Ltd. With 1.1 million users, iseek operates a consumer portal with localized content (www.iseek.com.au) and provides the default search engine for Australian schools. Australia has mandated nationwide filtering in schools as of January 1, 2000.
