Internet Strategies for Education Markets: The Heller Report, Dec, 1999

Tutornet.com, Inc., (www.tutornet.com, McLean, VA), which features live, teacher-moderated tutoring via real-time interactive virtual classrooms, has partnered with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The partnership will implement online tutoring in ten HUD housing facilities.

The pilot program will be instituted in HUD's Neighborhood Networks (NN) computer centers and HOPE VI and other public housing sites. The Neighborhood Networks initiative offers extensive instruction in computer applications and a variety of job and after-school programs. HOPE VI is focused on transforming public housing by establishing positive communities that have a commitment to improve resident self-sufficiency.
