Internet Strategies for Education Markets: The Heller Report, Jan, 2000

Funds for Learning (Arlington, VA) has conducted a study of Erate distributions. Rankings by state are available at www.fundsforlearning.com/ Winners.html. The District of Columbia topped the list with comitments of $190.74 per schoolage child, followed by Alaska with $172.07.

New Hampshire was at the bottom with $13 per child. Nationwide, about $70 was committed per child in the program's first two years. A few hundred million dollars of the nearly $1.7 billion that was committed in the program's first year, says the study, may go either unclaimed or unspent, once all the necessary paperwork is processed.
