Rhinoplasty implant video

Ear, Nose & Throat Journal, Oct, 2001

Porex Surgical, Inc., in collaboration with Dr. Paul O'Keeffe, provides a video depicting Dr. O'Keeffe's semi-open approach to rhinoplasty using the MEDPOR Nasal Shell Implant to augment the nasal dorsum. The MEDPOR Nasal Shell Implant, which is provided sterile and with two inserts, is shaped to mimic the nasal pyramid complex, consisting of the nasal bones and upper lateral cartilages. The two inserts are designed to be placed inferior to the implant in dorsal areas when substantial dorsal augmentation is required. The implants are composed of biocompatible, porous polyethylene.

As of July, Dr. O'Keeffe had implanted more than 30 nasal shells since April 1999 with only one complication, a vestibular mucosal exposure associated with allowing the implant to extend beyond the upper lateral cartilage.
