Employee manuals

Ear, Nose & Throat Journal, Dec, 2004 by Steven F. Isenberg

Medical practices need employee manuals for several reasons (figure). An employee manual will:

* permit all employees to understand expected conduct, benefits, and services from the date of hiring.

* serve as a "road map" to resolve employee employer grievances.

* provide all employees with an understanding of the mission of the practice and solidify a team approach.

* potentially protect the practice from real or alleged violations of labor laws.
