BrainLAB's z-touch [TM] is a wireless, fast and accurate registration technology that renders fiducials and additional diagnostic scans obsolete. A hand-held laser pointer is used to acquire up to 100 surface points by selectively scanning characteristic facial features with the z-touch laser beam.

The software then accurately matches the acquired surface points to the patient's diagnostic scan: The patient is ready for IGS within seconds. The FDA cleared z-touch as a class I laser product and requires no additional safety measures.
