Mirapoint Raises $9m In Second Round

Mirapoint Inc, the Menlo Park start-up that recently launched a dedicated email server has closed its second round of funding, raising $9m (12/04/98). The money will be used mainly for sales and marketing expenses, as product development of the first version of the M100 and M1000 email software and hardware combination is now complete.

The round was co-led by MKS Ventures and Worldview Technology Partners and Mirapoint's original angel investors, including Andy Bechtolscheim, one of the four co- founders of Sun Microsystems; Amit Shah, founder and CEO of recent Cisco acquisition, Pipelinks; Chips & Technologies founder Ron Yara and Adaptive founder Charles Giancarlo, now at Cisco.
