Cognos Inc, Ottawa, Canada-based provider of business intelligence software, has reported fourth-quarter net income up 1.0% at $17.2m on revenue up 22.9% at $86.9m. For the year, net income rose 79% to $58.4m on revenue up 23% at $301.1m. Earnings per share rose 2.6% to $0.39 for the quarter and 84.5% to $1.31 for the year.

Results for the quarter include $3.8m in acquisition-related charges, while last year's full-year results include similar charges of $18.m.
