Henry Blodget has been anointed to the throne of internet analyst at Merrill Lynch in New York, having made his name recently with his prediction of $400 per share for Amazon.com Inc in one year, only to see it achieved in 14 trading days in December and January (12/17/98). Blodget will leave his position at CIBC Oppenheimer to take up the post, which has been vacant since Jonathan Cohen left to join Wit Capital Corp.
