Siemens' Services Taps Active Software For Eai

Siemens Information and Communications' services division will plumb its business integration framework with EAI shop Active Software Inc's ActiveWorks software. COMPAQ ANNOUNCES MAINFRAME & MIDRANGE STORAGE PRODUCTS Compaq Computer Corp has announced new storage products as part of its multi-platform enterprise network storage (ENSA) strategy it laid out last year (CI No 3,565).

The company has partnered with Computer Network Technology (CNT) and Bus-Tech to provide IBM mainframe storage products. The products will allow high-speed transfers from MVS systems, file and data from DB-2 based systems and backup from open systems to mainframe systems. Donal Madden, storage product manager, said that Compaq's move to mainframe storage reflected the way that companies weren't yet ready to give up the benefits of mainframes. Particularly, he cited the ability of users to pull data to and from a mainframe as key for companies using mainframe legacy data on open systems for data mining. Compaq has also announced the two new storage arrays, the StorageWorks Enterprise Storage Raid Array 12000 for high-end data applications and the 8000 for midrange usage. Donal also noted that Compaq was using fibre channel connections on all of its storage range now, meaning that storage devices were not required to be within three feet of their associated server as with the previous SCSI connections.
