Strong Oltp Biz Pits Informix Against The Giants

> OLTP is reckoned to account for some 70%-75% of Informix Software Inc's revenue. Brokerage Merrill Lynch & Co says that puts Informix into direct competition with Oracle, IBM, NCR and Microsoft. With pricing pressures and Y2K concerns expected to make database spending somewhat uncertain in 1999 Merrill Lynch believes "those vendors with deeper pockets will make it very difficult going for Informix."
