Ncd Exec Quits To Head Net Music Firm Headspace

Computergram International, Feb 3, 1999

Headspace Inc, the internet interactive audio company founded by '80s pop star Thomas Dolby, has poached Lorraine Hariton to be its new president and chief executive. Hariton was formerly senior VP of development and marketing at Network Computing Devices Inc, where she oversaw the change in the product line from X terminals to network computers and negotiated the OEM agreement with IBM to build its Network Stations.

Dolby, the previous CEO who these days goes by Thomas Dolby Robertson, stays on as "chief beatnik" at the San Mateo, California-based company. Headspace has licensed its Beatnik converter technology and the Headspace audio engine at its core to the likes of Netscape Communications Corp, Microsoft Corp's WebTV Networks Inc, Be Inc and Sun Microsystems Inc's Java division, among others. It did not return calls yesterday.
