Geo Links With Sandpiper for Faster Web Radio

Computergram International, March 16, 1999

Geo Interactive Media Group Ltd, the Israeli internet tools provider has teamed up with Sandpiper Networks Inc to provide a web radio site with a system they claim will allow audio and video content to stream at least 50% faster than existing broadcast sites. While Geo offers compression software without the need for a plug-in, Sandpiper's Footprint system avoids internet congestion and delivers fresh content closer to end-users with web servers located at every major backbone in the world.

Both systems will be used at WebRadio.Com, Geo's internet broadcasting site which wilkl offer live radio broadcast feeds starting in the second quarter of this year. Since it was announced a month ago (CI No 3,606), 35 US-based radio stations have signed contracts with WebRadio.
