A Dallas, Texas company has developed software to help parents control the gaming of their children. Game Deputy, from Deputy Inc, scans a PC's hard drive to find out which games are installed, and features a review section to give parents what it describes as adequate information to make decisions.

Parents can veto their children playing particular games or set limits on when and for how long they can play the games. The system can be set up with different rules for each child, and can check which games are used. Game Deputy is currently in talks with games companies to distribute the software along with the games, and is considering discussions with PC manufacturers for bundling it with the hardware itself.
