Memory Corp, the Edinburgh, Scotland memory products designer, has licensed Tegic Communications Inc's T9 text input software for its MP3-GO portable music player, which is due to hit the shops in the US and Europe before Christmas.

Seattle, Washington-based Tegic's software has been extensively used by mobile phone manufacturers to enable customers to send messages on a limited keypad. Memory, which is paying Tegic a small up-front payment plus royalties, says it will make music selection easy by providing users with simple text entry formats to input artists' names and song titles.
