Earnings Report: Hays Plc

Computergram International, Sept 14, 1999

Hays Plc, the UK-based business services group, has recorded profit after tax up 18.4% at 167.2m pounds ($269.3m) on revenue that rose 21% to 1.8bn pounds ($3bn). Earnings per share increased 17% to 19.8 pence ($0.32). Hays attributed much of the growth to expansion in the UK IT personnel business as well as the establishment of Hays Customer Solutions for call center and data processing. Hays has made several acquisitions to buy into the IT sector, including IT outsourcing Axis Resources Holdings, Paris-based IT recruitment company Sitinfo, and fellow French firm Ceritex, a call center services specialist (CI No 3,567).
