Autodesk Acquires Vision Solutions for $26m

Computergram International, April 23, 1999

Design software house Autodesk Inc said Thursday that it has acquired Vision Solutions, a Canadian vendor of enterprise automated mapping, facilities management and geographic information systems, from MCI WorldCom's MCI Systemhouse Corp. The purchase price was $26m and the deal will be accounted for as a purchase.

Vision provides enterprise systems targeted at large communications, utilities and local government organizations. Its customers include US West and FirstEnergy in North America, Thames Water and Yorkshire Electric in the UK and Telstra in Australia. Autodesk says it will integrate the Vision products with its own desktop tools, allowing the combined offering to scale up to thousands of concurrent users.
