Nintendo to Offer Online Service for Game Boy Console

Computergram International, June 21, 1999

Users of Nintendo Co's Game Boy handheld game machines will soon be able to download games and send email from their device using mobile phones. Nintendo has teamed up with DDI Corp and other mobile phone operators to offer the service, which will start next year in Japan. Nintendo has developed software which allows the devices to access cellular or Personal Handyphone System (PHS) phones, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

There are no details on how much Nintendo will charge for the service.
