Dell Offers Video Capture Workstation Storage Combination

Pinnacle Systems Inc is to provide its DC1000 video capture care to Dell Computer Corp for new video creation and storage workstation packages. The Dell Precision workstations are on show at the Siggraph show in Los Angeles this week. Packages start at $4,000 for Dell Precision WorkStation 410 or 610 models, but Dell is also offering the Intel Corp Gigabit Ethernet Controller as an option for connection to a Dell PowerVault network attached storage system (which it OEMs from Data General Corp).

This enables file sharing and video streaming at up to 1 gigabit per second, and allows for interoperability between Unix and Windows NT files. Starting price for the combination is $34,400.
