Computergram International, Sept 1, 1999

CAD software developer MB Software AG has reported a net loss for its first fiscal quarter, ended June 30, 1999, of 1.01m euros ($1.06m) on revenue that was down 36.1% at 6.42m euros ($6.76m). This compared to a net profit in the same period last year of 1.09m euros ($1.15m). At the pre-tax level, profit was down 22.3% at 1.88m euros ($1.98m). The loss per share was 0.30 euros ($0.32), compared to earnings per share in the same period last year of 0.33 euros ($0.35).

Neuer Markt-quoted MB, which is headquartered in Hameln, Germany, said it expects to improve it performance during the remainder of its financial year, given its recent strategy of acquiring companies both at home and abroad to expand its offering on the German and international markets.

In April the company bought 80% of Hannover-based multimedia software house Reakktor Media GmbH (CI No 3,638) as well as a 33% stake in Avon, Connecticut-based Datacad LLC (CI No 3,648).
