Datrontech First Half Hit by Eastern European Operations

Computergram International, Sept 16, 1999

Datrontech Group Plc, the UK-based memory, networking and storage products distributor, has suffered badly from its move into Eastern Europe and produced losses of 922,000 pounds before the board decided to close down operations. The company made a 2.7m-pound ($4.3m) net loss in the 26 weeks through July 4, down from a profit of 1.8m pounds ($2.8m) on revenue down 15.7% at 112.7m pounds ($181.4m).

It says it now plans to further reduce the size of the company as "a precursor to re-establishing sustained profit growth."
