Network Appliance Launches New Networking Software

Computergram International, July 6, 1998

Hoping to cash in on an increase in share filing between Windows NT and Unix servers, Network Appliance Inc today released its Windows Networking Software 3.0, which provides multi-protocol file locking and native Windows NT file and directory permissions. The software, which comes bundled with the company's Data ONTAP operating software and native file system, offers NT file and directory permissions and supports Windows NT administration tools.

Previously, NT users had to revert to using Unix file permissions. Now they can use one or other, or mox both. The Windows Networking Software version 3.0 is available now as a free upgrade to licensees of Windows Networking Software 1.x license.
