Add/drop multiplexer - Global Opticom Inc - Brief Article

Communications News,  Oct, 2001

AN ALL-OPTICAL PATH CONFIGURATION allows SONET/SDH, Gigabit Ethernet and video signals to pass through or drop, without optical/electrical or electrical/optical conversion. The Programmable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (OADM) combines thin-film dense wavelength division multiplexer and optomechanical switch technologies, with an easy-to-use electronically controlled interface. It can dynamically add or drop any/all operating channels remotely, or on the board, using built-in software. A series of programmable OADMs in 4x4, 8x8, 16x16 and 20x20 configurations are available, with 50 GHz, 100 GHz, 200 GHz ITU grid spacing for both C- and L-Bands. The unit features a standard 19" rackmount, uniform power output of each channel, low insertion loss and PDL, high-temperature stability, and latching capability. --Global Opticom
