Optical testing - NetTest CMA4000 - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Communications News,  Oct, 2001

TEST OPTICAL NETWORKS ACCURATELY and over longer distances. The CMA4000 Optical Test System is an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) that allows technicians to check the accuracy of fusion splices and the location of fiber-optic breaks. The unit now offers a 50 dB dynamic range, providing improved test data quality and the ability to test spans of up to 250 km. In addition to the new module, the CMA4000 operating software has been revised to include ATM passive optical network testing capability, the option to display up to four OTDR traces at once for the tri- and quad-wavelength modules, quicker boot up, and real-time updates. The CMA4000 also now supports optical spectrum analyzer modules with a spectral range spanning from 1520 nm to 1620 nm. These modules offer 10 GHz channel resolution in the C- and L-bands for providing testing for installation, upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting for ultra-DWDM systems.--NetTest
