The FibreStar FCX2-6562 PCI-X bus-to-Fibre-Channel-host bus adapter supports native mode PCI-X at 133-MHz speed. The dual-port adapter supports Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Sun Microsystems' Solaris operating systems, and has hot-plug capabilities, independent of the operating system. The product offers throughput performance of nearly 800 MB per channel, full switched fabric support, FC-tape support, 1-Gbps or 2-Gbps automatic rate negotiation, as well as support for all Fibre Channel topologies. A hardware--assisted context-switching feature maximizes SAN data throughput by allowing data from different disk arrays to be sent across the SAN on a frame-by-frame basis, instead of waiting for all the frames before switching disk arrays.--JNI
