Pocket-sized switch
FAST ETHERNET switch supports 1.6 Gbps in full-duplex mode. Compex has introduced the PS2208 Dual-Speed Ethernet Pocket Switch that uses nonblocking switch architecture coupled with the store-and-forward switching method to allow high-speed, error-free data transfer. The compact PS2208 supports address learning, address migration, and filtering to reduce unnecessary traffic between different segments. The Pocket Switch provides eight 10/100 ports with N-Way auto-negotiation on every port. All the ports are on independent switching segments, and every port supports both full- and half-duplex capabilities, as well as 10Base-T and 100Base-TX connections. The switch has a receive buffer RAM size of 1 MB; with its 16K active MAC address table, the switch can be suitably deployed in any LAN environment.--Compex, Inc.

EZ Internet access
EXPAND SINGLE-USER ACCOUNTS to unlimited users for cable and ADSL modems. Arescom's EZ Rider Pro Router-Hub is configurable to support different application environments. The EZ Rider Pro enables effective setup of IP domains through the dual-speed, auto-sensing Ethernet hub. Advanced routing features allow enterprise or SOHO access to the Internet using a single account. Arescom provides a 56K analog modem for primary dial out and backup to reduce downtime. The Ethernet input is 10Base-T, and the output is four 10/100 autosensing ports. The router hub is remotely manageable, and software upgrades may be downloaded from www.arescom.com.--Arescom, Inc.

T1 connections to MTUs
INTERNET ACCESS is available for multitenant offices or units (MTUs). RC Networks has developed the RC8000 Access Concentrator for service providers, CLECs, and building owners. Because the RC8000 uses existing in-building wiring or telephone lines, costly installation and rewiring expense is reduced. The Access Concentrator provides connections to always-on, high-speed (up to 2.3 Mbps) SDSL lines. RC's product is installed in the telephone wiring closet of the MTU building and connects to an incoming T1 line or 10/100 Ethernet connection. --RC Networks, Inc.

License-free protection switch
PROVIDE AUTOMATIC REDUNDANT switching for T1 and E1 spread-spectrum radios. Glenayre Western Multiplex has introduced "hot-standby" protection for its Lynx line of license-free wireless links. The LYNX. sc protection switch increases the equipment reliability for wireless interconnect systems. The protection switch connects between a set of two LYNX.sc spread-spectrum radios and one antenna at each end of a wireless link to provide monitored hot-standby protection. If one radio has a problem, its functions are immediately switched to the standby radio to ensure uninterrupted transmission of voice or data. The switch operates in 2.4- and 5.8-GHz ISM bands.--Glenayre Western Multiplex

Micro hub
FOUR-PORT 100BASE-T HUB is smaller than a zip disk, yet it is still a full-featured hub. Unicom has designed its Micro-Fast/4 hub with an Uplink port for expansion to two hubs, for a total of six ports. An external power supply allows the Micro-Fast/4 to have a very small footprint, making it ideal for SOHO networks. Unicom's wall-mountable product includes LED indicators for link, activity, and collision.

Switching router
DELIVER WIRE-SPEED with zero packet loss. Foundry Networks has developed its Biglron 8000 Switching Router for Layer 2/3 Gigabit Ethernet. Testing results have demonstrated that the eight-slot, chassis-based switch achieved wire-speed throughput with no loss, utilizing three different packet sizes (64, 512, and 1,518). Carrying a small footprint, a fully-configured Biglron 8000 outfitted with 64 ports of Gigabit Ethernet and four power supplies for redundancy can be contained in a standard 19" rack enclosure only 12 RUs high. Foundry's product is ideal for enterprises requiring Layer 2/3 switches that are scalable and provide fast IP throughput.--Foundry Networks, Inc.

Gateway firewall
LAN-CONNECTED gateway to Internet gives secure access for up to 253 users cable or ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) modem. UMAX Technologies, Inc. offers small to midsized enterprises the UGATE-3000, a load-efficient way to go on line through an always on, high-bandwidth cable or ADSL Internet modem connection. UGate-3000's NAT (Network Address Translation) mechanism reduces the LAN's exposure through the broadband connection to incursions by Internet-based hackers, vandals, and thieves. An easy-to-use interface controls the built-in, 4-port 10/100 hub, as well as unique Dynamic DNS (domain name service), that expands Internet usage and convenience. An embedded HTTP server allows easy configuration for authorized access across the LAN. The UGate-3000 can also be connected to a router to provide fast LAN access by a satellite office with no need to reconfigure the local network.--UMAX Technologies, Inc.
