Optical network monitoring - Optical testing and conversion

Communications News, Nov, 2002

Fiber-optic intrusion-prevention system uses artificial intelligence and optical digital-signature recognition analysis techniques to protect networks. The FiberSentinel System provides continuous, real-time monitoring of a fiber connection, instantly detects any intrusion attempts, immediately shuts down the intrusion, simultaneously reroutes the traffic to a backup fiber path, and notifies the network operator via the network management system. The system automatically identifies, differentiates and characterizes eight distinct optical event types, and is offered for both single-mode and multimode fiber applications. --Opterna
