Traffic optimization - Networld+Interop, Fall 2002

Communications News, Nov, 2002

Manage multiple Internet connections for cheaper bandwidth with the NPEIOIOA network policy engine. Utilizing dual Pentium III 866-Mhz processors and 2 GB of DRAM, the system provides traffic-engineering capabilities using standard Internet protocols. Metrics-based network-tuning tools include the ability to adjust traffic flow based on latency, packet loss and jitter measurements. The system also allows utilization-based load sharing to evenly distribute traffic load across all links, as well as the ability to prioritize link usage based on cost. Two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports and an optional 1-Gbps Ethernet port provide connectivity in the 1U box.--Proficient Networks
