Communications News, Nov, 2005
The Switched Power Distribution Units (PDU) incorporate amp metering that allows network administrators to turn on and off up to 16 outlets, reboot individual equipment and monitor current and voltage from a remote location. Administrators are able to assign more than 100 unique users with full or individually assigned access. Users can remotely access, configure and control the PDUs through a Web browser, command line interface, SNMP or Telnet interfaces. Accurate, real-time measurement of the cumulative load current (draw) can be seen either on the PDU's LED readout or through the secure Web browser, for determining the remaining power capacity and if additional equipment can be added safely. SNMP traps can be triggered when current exceeds predefined thresholds. Power-up outlet sequencing prevents in-rush current overload, as well as inadvertent tripping of circuit breakers.--MGE UPS Systems
