Wireless spectrum monitoring - Voice and wireless testing - Madge's WLAN Probe Monitor

Communications News, Dec, 2003

The WLAN Probe 2 is a small, discrete sensor device that performs real-time intelligent radiomonitoring, scanning all channels used by 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth equipment. The unit detects and reports on authorized and unauthorized wireless activity. One probe can monitor an area of up to 45,000 square feet, and can be used as a stand-alone device or in conjunction with the Madge WLAN Probe Monitor-a reporting, control and management system provided on a rack-mountable server appliance. The system sets and helps to enforce wireless LAN security policies, provides 24/7 monitoring for authorized and rogue access points, detects intrusions and attempted attacks, identifies unapproved networks and connections, and locates incorrect configurations that can lead to new threats. A Windows-based console application provides a complete enterprise-wide view of the managed airspace. --Madge Limited
