Hard-drive backup

Communications News, Jan, 2004

With as few as two external hard drives, a business can implement an offsite backup strategy using Retrospect Disk-to-Disk for Windows servers. The solution relies on backup sets to organize data and transfer it to disk. A backup set can consist of parts of a single disk or multiple hard disks as required. The software automatically spans disks when performing backups, and backs up only new and changed files after the first full backup. For remote offices, portable, hot-pluggable 1394/USB2 hard drives can be used to create two backup sets, and while one set is in use onsite for rapid recovery, the second set can be rotated offsite.--Dantz Development
