Network monitoring

MONITOR THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC being generated by Web servers on the company network. NetAppScope is a highly specialized network-management tool designed to monitor client/server transactions that use the Internet's TCP/IP protocols. NetAppScope can be configured to monitor Web server traffic (WWW/ HTTP), FTP traffic (SMTP/POP3), Telnet traffic or any other client/server-oriented Internet application protocol. NetAppScope performs its functions by passively monitoring the network, rather than examining server log files or other secondhand sources of information. This allows the software to function in real time and combine information about multiple servers and/or clients as it observes them. Administrators can look at the network from either the server perspective or the client perspective, and can monitor and assess the amount, sources and destinations of any client traffic for a specific application protocol or set of protocols. A robust set of reports can be generated at user-specified time intervals, and exported and studied in popular spreadsheet applications. Several real-time displays, graphs and network alarms can also be configured. By properly configuring a WWW server and routing saved reports to that server, network statistics may be viewed from a remote location using a Web browser. Additionally, remote alarm notification via pager or e-mail is available.--Triticom

Asset management
REMOTELY MONITOR AND MANAGE any real-world asset, including enterprise data centers, ISP server cabinets and telecommunications equipment. The SNAP-IT system is a standard rackmount or panel-mount enclosure containing a processor, communications interface, and a backplane that accepts SNAP modules that interface to real-world devices. Modules are available for a myriad of customer applications. The system can monitor temperature, humidity and airflow anywhere in an enterprise data center, including in and around server enclosures, to ensure correct server operating conditions. Lights, power supply voltages, environmental conditions and equipment temperatures at cell tower locations can also be observed. Generic modules for analog, digital or serial signals are available for connecting to virtually any sensor, actuator or serial port. The user simply inserts the SNAP modules needed for the application into the SNAP-IT backplane, attaches the real-world devices that need to be monitored and managed, and then configures the SNAP modules using the product's built-in Web server. This simple process allows a number of devices to be brought online in as little as 15 minutes.--Opto 22

Remote computer management
MANAGE A SERVER FARM system in real time from a single location with keyboard, video and mouse functionality. FreeVisionIP extends existing FreeVision server management systems by digitizing and compressing the keyboard, video and mouse signals of the connected server and transmitting the data over a standard IP connection. The proprietary software algorithms enable efficient use of bandwidth while, at the same time, maintaining the quality and refresh rate of the image from the remote processor. The system centrally links geographically dispersed server farms, eliminating the need for complex management schemes and travel to remote data centers. The FreeVision switching products allow physical management and access of up to 64,000 servers from any network operator's seat with a single keystroke. The solution dramatically reduces total cost of ownership by improving the efficiency of data center personnel, and providing dramatic reductions in real estate needs.--CCC Network Systems

Remote switch management
CONTROL SWITCH ACCESS and increase user ease of interaction. Switch Interface 3.0 is a switch database update utility used to simplify ANI, authcode, toll-free, calling card and account-code additions, deletions, updates and lookups. The system enables network administrators to control access to one or more switch databases for an unlimited number of users. Convenient access to databases allows the management of more users, data and switches efficiently and cost-effectively. Heightened network security features allow authorized network administrators to specify which level of access users have. Employees can be limited to have access only to information directly related to their job activities. Built-in system logic determines which switches are affected by new transactions and sends the changes automatically to accelerate updates. New features include resend, search, sort, filter and export options that enable users of all levels to interact more efficiently with switch data. Other enhancements include to the databases through Telnet connection for speedier connectivity and a decrease in the number of ports users need to access the switch.--Equinox Information Systems
