Fiber-based video encoder - Optical devices and testing - VBrick VB6000 - Brief Article

Communications News,  Feb, 2003

The fiber-optic-based VB6000 is a compact and rugged encoder and decoder that delivers one- or two-way television over digital ATM and IP networks. Available with multimode, single-mode or hybrid-fiber interfaces, the device accepts standard NTSC/PAL video and audio, compresses the video in real time and transmits the digital signal over an IP or ATM network, and decodes it for display on PCs or TVs. The dual OC-3 version has an integral ATM switch allowing users to daisy chain the units and conserve on ATM switch ports and provide fault-tolerant fiber rings. The unit comes with ATM traffic shaping for CBR-type traffic contracts, as well as UBR support.--VBrick
