Role-based security

Communications News,  Feb, 2008

To address security and compliance requirements at the switch level, Trusted Security (TrustSec) authenticates users, assigns roles and enforces policies on enterprise networks comprised of Cisco switches, routers and unified wireless network controllers. TrustSec manages what users can and cannot access by assigning security measures based on the roles and identities of users, regardless of the access method or device (e.g., wired, wireless, mobile, laptop, printer). Administrators can manage policies consistently across the network using the central policy engine that combines different authentication procedures.--Cisco Systems
