Telepacific launches "next-generation" local communications service

"Next-generation" services result from a "smart build" strategy in which Telepacific will own and control advanced Lucent switches that will be used in networks for corporate and academic customers in major urban areas in California and Nevada. The Lucent switches have been deployed with leased fiber optic capacity to give Telepacific reliability without substantial in-front capital cost.

David Glickman, Telepacific chairman and CEO, says that enterprises "are demanding a tailored network design geared to the unique requirements of their business (to) meet their growing needs for local and long-distance voice, data, Internet, and multi-media applications."
