ACTIVE NETWORK DIAGNOSTIC TESTER. The Pinger is targeted at the IT network-maintenance market and establishes a convenient method of PING and DHCP testing. The device incorporates four major test functions: link identification and decoding, PING, DHCP verification, and port ID. Link ID determines the presence, speed and polarity of a link signal. PING will ping an IP address to determine round-trip time, MAC address, packet transmission quality and gateway. DHCP tests the ability of DHCP. servers to give accurate IP address and identifies duplicate ones. Port ID activates hub or switch link lights to identify where a client is connected into a hub or switch port. --Psiber Data Systems
