VoIP through NAT devices - ComNet 2003 - Jasomi Networks' PeerPoint Enterprise Edition - Brief Article

Communications News,  March, 2003

Voice-over-IP solutions are rapidly making their way into enterprise telephony systems, but only recently have end-users started considering the security of those implementations. PeerPoint Enterprise Edition from Jasomi Networks allows VoIP calls to travel through NAT-enabled security devices. Installed as a server in an organization's DMZ beside Web, e-mail and other servers, the product seamlessly translates VoIP call streams between the internal private IP address space and the external global address space, enabling calls to pass into and out of the organization across the NAT boundary. The system ensures that all call data streams are properly translated between the internal and global address spaces as calls enter and leave the enterprise. The solution employs a back-to-back user agent technology base tied to an integrated media proxy. Deployment imposes no additional load on the existing NAT-enabled firewall, and does not affect or intercept any other traffic.--Jasomi Networks
