Hand-held network analysis

Communications News, March, 2004

The FrameScope 350 hand-held cable network performance analyzer allows network managers to use enhanced autocancellation technology and RFC-2544 testing to certify CAT 6 cable, and verify throughput and latency across a network. The unit's autocancellation technology dynamically removes the effects of the test adapters per the requirements of the TIA and ISO cabling standards. The RFC-2544 test is for the performance testing and verification of Ethernet links in the metro network. Additional features include network discovery, test result storage on removable compact flash memory cards, detailed reporting options, ability to display the network database via a Web-based remote control, support for showing hierarchy levels on the locate switch port toot, and a description field for the cable-shielding indicator.--Agilent
