Communications News, March, 2004
The Attack Mitigator IPS 5500 is a high-performance in-line security device that delivers non-stop protection against both network and application-lever cyber threats. Through deep-packet inspection technology, the platform prevents undesired access, filters illegal packets and illegal headers, stops network attacks and denial-of-service attacks (such as SYN Flood DDoS), prevents exploits of critical vulnerabilities (such as SQL Slammer, MS-Blaster and other worms), mitigates service overload attacks, and thwarts application-level attacks. Reliable network operation is provided by ASIC-based hardware design, redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and hot-swappable fan tray, along with a secure custom operating system and flexible port-bypass capabilities. The device features performance of 60,000 stateful inspection connections per second and up to 60,000 deep-packet inspections per second, with switch-like network latency and high throughput.--Top Layer Networks
