Gigabit switches

Communications News, March, 2004

The PowerConnect 6024 and 6024F offer 24 ports of Gigabit Ethernet in copper and fiber configurations, respectively, including eight ports of combined copper/fiber connectivity. They support a comprehensive routing-protocol set and come standard with redundant hot-swappable, internal power supplies and cooling fans to help ensure maximum uptime. The switches have flow-based QoS, with Layer 2-4 classification, policing, rate limiting and marking. Security features include IP and MAC access-control lists, SSL and SSH encryption of management traffic, and RADIUS management authentication. They also include an integrated cable tester that allows remote troubleshooting. A network-management system is included to monitor the network and deploy firmware and configuration changes to multiple switches in a single operation.--Dell
