Enterprise storage solution - Product preview: networld+interop - Sony Data Systems' SAIT-1 drive - Brief Article

Communications News,  April, 2003

Booth 4257

Storing up to 1.3 TB of compressed data (500 GB uncompressed) on a single half-inch tape cartridge, the high-capacity SAIT-1 drive combines the data density advantages of helical-scan recording with the longer and wider tape usually associated with linear tape drives. Intended for automated storage solutions in heavy-duty backup cycles for enterprise-class applications, the drive features a sustained transfer rate of up to 78 Mbps (30 Mbps native). The drive can have either a SCSI Ultra 160 or 2-Gbps Fibre Channel interface in a 5.25" full-height, extended-depth enclosure.--Sony Data Systems
