Serial device server

Communications News, April, 2004

Designed for companies that are migrating from serial port devices to Ethernet devices, the GL 414 Serial Device Server connects legacy serial devices to 10/100BaseT Ethernet. The unit has four ports that can accommodate either serial or Ethernet connections with the flip of a switch, allowing any combination of devices to be used simultaneously through the same server. RS-232-based devices are connected through RJ-45 ports, with serial data transfer rates up to 115 Kbps. The device has static key-based 3DES data encryption, includes management software, and can be configured via Telnet of serial port.--Globetek
