Optical Ethernet connectivity

Communications News, April, 2004

ConnectPoint Campus is a 100-Mbps, fiberless optical Ethernet transceiver that uses a laser to communicate packet data and extend the LAN infrastructure. The units self-align and start transmitting and receiving data within seconds. The solution offers Fast Ethernet speeds over a 40-m to 70-m range. Available with ceiling-, wall-, corner-or pole-mounting options, the units can be placed indoors or outdoors. The optical transmission solution provides a convenient backup to wired connections and can be used to quickly connect temporary sites.--Crinis Networks
