What's Vietnamese for "save as?"
Career Dynamics International (CDI) selected MicroVideo Learning Systems' Office 97 videos for translation into Vietnamese. CDI, in conjunction with the Foreign Service Company of the Government of Vietnam, plans to use the videos in training 5,200 Vietnamese government personnel at the Khai Minh Foreign Language & Informatics Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). CDI, licensed by the State of California to organize accredited IT programs, offers adult students state-of-the-art multimedia computer-training courses. "We're thrilled to have CDI at our side," says Michael Katz, marketing director for Micro Video. "This is a real opportunity to provide the training necessary for solid, active international development. This is the precise moment in the history of the world to reach out, partner, and explore." www.microvideo.com

Singapore counts on the 'Net
Already the Internet is used widely by Singaporeans to file income taxes. Now that country will be the first in the world to use the Internet, along with call center technologies, to conduct its census. Like the U.S.A., Singapore's census takes place every 10 years. Thirty percent of Singapore households (1.2 million people) are expected to have Internet access by June 2000. Twenty percent of that number will be selected for additional census questions by letter to be answered via the Internet with household I.D.s and passwords used to ensure confidentiality. Households without the Internet service will be contacted using computer assisted telephone interviewing. National Computer Systems is the appointed vendor for developing and providing the total IT solution and call center service for Population Census 2000. www.ncs.com.sg

(MRI) specializing in matching staffing needs of clients in the high tech and consumer electronics industries. Jeffrey Heath, president of Landstone in New York, suggests job seekers change the way their resumes are written. Among up-to-date methods of presenting resumes are using highly specific detail since scanner software searches for words indicative of exact experience for jobs offered. Use action verbs. Create a concise resume. Use bold sparingly; use white space to separate sections; do not underline as this often disrupts the scanner and cuts into letters; never use paper with marble shades or speckles as scanner interpret them as letters.
