Communications News, June, 2002
Secure wireless LANs with the WG-1000 Wireless Gateway. The product is a scalable, single-component solution for solving security, QoS and management issues for enterprises and service providers deploying IEEE 802.11 b and Bluetooth-based networks. Configured via a Web browser, it sits between an enterprise's access points (wireless base stations) and the rest of the network, acting as a gateway between wireless and wired components. It uses IPSec and PPTP to secure and confirm information between networks and users. Role-based access control allows users to be authenticated against a local database for stand-alone operation, or an existing corporate database through username/password log-on combinations. The gateway also provides central management and configuration of multiple WG-1000s throughout an organization via a Web-based interface. The product guards against bandwidth hogging, with users assigned bandwidth according to their roles and applications. The WG-1000 is compatible with future WLAN standards.--Bluesocket
