Sealed SFP assemblies

Communications News, June, 2007

Sealed, small form-factor pluggable (SFP) assemblies feature an IP67-rated hardened user interface for dust and water protection. Their durable die cast receptacles have electronically conductive sealing gaskets that deliver EMI suppression in a rugged housing. Created to withstand harsh environments, these connector systems are suited for industrial or outdoor applications, as well as Wi-Fi and WiMax wireless base station and antenna feed applications. The system enables upgrades from a copper Ethernet system to an optical transceiver, or can interchange between the two. By incorporating the SFP transceiver into a wall-mounted receptacle, these assemblies can be removed or replaced from either side of the receptacle, simplifying installations and upgrades.--Molex
