Traffic-monitoring utility - Testing and monitoring products

Communications News, July, 2003

The Paessler Router Traffic Grapher allows network administrators to set up and run a monitoring station that logs the amount of data flowing into and out of network components. The most common usage is monitoring the bandwidth usage of leased lines, routers and firewalls, but users can also monitor servers, managed switches, printers and other network components. Using the simple network management protocol (SNMP), the software reads the current traffic data from the SNMP-enabled device and shows the result in three graphs: used bandwidth over one day (kbps), transferred data counts for each of the last 14 days (Mb/day), and transferred data counts for each of the last 52 weeks (Mb/ week).--Paessler
